DIY Wedding in the Woods

Hannah and Will married on the 6th of September last year in a rustic ceremony perfectly suited to them both, with Will being a tree surgeon and Hannah growing up in the new forest in a verderers cottage.
"We met at a mutual friends party-not very exciting! However we had been at school together without knowing one another and he approached me at the end of the night and told me he had fancied me at school, and held a door open for me once which I didn't remember-we then met up about a year later."

"On Christmas Day 2012 we'd agreed not to buy each other presents so when I went into the lounge and saw a huge box I was a bit miffed to say the least! Once I opened it however and saw the tiny box inside it's safe to say I changed my mind!"
"We spent ages trying to find the perfect woodland reception but when having no luck we were relieved when Wills parents offered the field opposite their house that he had played in growing up and that really set the ball rolling when it came to planning the wedding."

"We wanted our day to have a boho, laid-back, country feel and definitely didn't want anything too formal- the hay bails and  DIY backdrop added to the whole effect."

"We did all of the styling ourselves as we had very strong ideas; the tablecloths, table decorations, palette signs, even the ceremony backdrop in the woods decorated with hops and apples."

"The day was everything we'd imagined, it's all a bit of a blur!"

"The best part of my day was the ceremony in the field, arriving with the bridesmaids in the truck and walking up the field with dad."

Hannah's dress was by Calm Amongst the Chaos and as she is junior designer she had a hand in the making of her gown. It was a mix of crepe and millennium stain, with a silk chiffon skirt in a drop waist style. It featured a low back with a lace panel, and lots of godets in the back that had been hand dyed with beetroot, tea and nettles.

"Words of wisdom: To take 20 minutes out of your day with your husband to walk away and look back on the wedding and reflect about what's happened- to realize it while it's happening."

We are thrilled that Hannah and Will's day was everything they had wanted and we can't wait to meet the new addition to the family soon!
